What is a HUC?

A Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC) is a way for the USGS to delineate watersheds across the country. They begin on large levels and move down to specifics. The Rock River Basin comprises two subbasins (HUC 8) and several more watersheds (HUC 10) and subwatersheds (HUC12).

HUC 8: subbasin > HUC 10: watershed > HUC 12: subwatershed
