Join the statewide search for aquatic invasive species!
Water lovers of all ages are invited to join a statewide search for aquatic invasive species (AIS) on Saturday, August 21st. This fun, hands-on effort, known as Snapshot Day, relies on volunteers to monitor streams, lakes, and wetlands for signs of non-native plants and animals that pose risks to Wisconsin waterways and wildlife.
Coordinated in partnership by UW-Madison Division of Extension, River Alliance of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Snapshot Day is entering its 8th successful year. Information collected will be provided to the WI DNR to inform and guide AIS monitoring and response efforts. Volunteers are key to the success of the event.
Rock River Coalition is hosting its first annual Snapshot Day in Dodge County, starting at 8:30 AM at Fireman’s Park in Burnett. Over 20 other conservation organizations are hosting Snapshot Days throughout the state, so if you can’t join us in Burnett, there may be an event closer to you.
